Connection Problems (not a bug report)

Browser
  1. Chrome
The Compatibility test works fine with my MONTAGE M6.

I am trying to load the KDx in Chrome. My Montage M6 is connected via USB.
When starting KDx and being asked for the input, output ports and the synthesizer.
(for the ports there are actually the 4 options:
- MONTAGE M,
- MIDIIN2 (MONTAGE M)
- MIDIIN3 (MONTAGE M)
- MIDIIN4 (MONTAGE M))
I assume MONTAGE M is the correct one, for all three fields, that's what I use.
When I then press 'load' then the blocks appear on the screen, however they stay empty.

Can you please help.

KDx is designed to look for a port that ends in `1` to help people avoid trying to connect ports 2, 3 and 4, which won't work correctly.

In your case, you have a port without a number, which is confusing the auto-detect system in KDx.

However, you should be able to override it using the manual configuration tools - ensure you have MONTAGE M selected for both input and output ports, and MONTAGE M as the selected synth, and it should work...

If you are still having problems, my first suggestion would be to use whatever tool you may have used to renamed Port1 so that it ends with a 1, like `MONTAGE M Port1`.

Please let me know how you get on, and if the problem persists I'll work out a solution.

Separately, the ports you listed there all appear to be input ports. Do you have a different set of output port names?

I did not name the ports. I assume they come from the MONTAGE M driver. On MONTAGE M I am selecting to use the Yamaha driver. I will try also with the generic driver.
Have to check why there are only INPUTs.
You are referring to manual configuration tools. Are they part of KDx.

The manual config tools appear a the top of the 'chooser' page, and the bottom of the synth selection menu in the editor itself

It would be very useful to get a list of both your Montage M input ports, and its output ports. Could you do a screengrab from Cubase or whatever DAW you use?

When I try to edit sounds I am not using a DAW. My standard DAW is CUBASE Pro 14. I also use VST Live Pro 2 from Steinberg.

What I said above was not completely complete. There are different input and output ports.
I see the following MIDI Ports related to MONTAGE M when I try to select input and output for KDx. I checked now, these are independent whether I select on MONTAGE M the Yamaha Driver or the Generic Driver. I attach 2 pictures of all the MIDI Ports I see in Cubase 14 (these are the same as I see in in VST Live Pro and KDx)

Inputs:
- MONTAGE M,
- MIDIIN2 (MONTAGE M)
- MIDIIN3 (MONTAGE M)
- MIDIIN4 (MONTAGE M)

Outputs:
- MONTAGE M,
- MIDIOUT2 (MONTAGE M)
- MIDIOUT3 (MONTAGE M)
- MIDIOUT4 (MONTAGE M)

It is the Chooser page where I select MONTAGE M for input and output port as well as for the synthesizer.

I have made a change to the global config... hopefully it will work for you without having to use the manual config now. Please let me know!

I just tried again. Now it was detecting Montage M (without me filling in the input, output and synthesizer manully.)
It is loading the currently selected MONTAGE M sound correctly. I am not sure why it is working now as I have not changed anything.

Thank you very much for your help.

I changed the config at the system level to allow the auto-detector to use Montage M ports whose names don’t and in “1”. I need to rewrite some of the detector code I think…
